The past few weeks have been extremely difficult for everyone with social distancing and quarantine. The best way to stay positive during this time is to invest in learning new things, spending time with your loved ones or just relaxing. This one’s for all the Foodie Trippers out there – learn a new appetising recipe to impress the fam or just savour the skills of some of the best chefs in the world. Here is a list of the Top 5 shows for the Foodie Tripper to binge on during lockdown:

1. The Final Table

This American cooking competition brings together 12 teams of 2 professional chefs each to compete with one another. In each episode, the teams are given a task to make an appetising dish from a specific country. The food presented cannot help but make your mouth water. This captivating show is for those who want to watch some serious cooking as the contestants are not amateurs but world-renowned chefs (some even have Michelin stars!). The exciting part is that these chefs are competing first as a team and later individually, for the tenth place on the Final Table where nine of the world’s top chefs already hold a position.

This absolutely addictive YouTube channel has been created by VICE media. It showcases the spectrum of global culinary experiences and diverse voices of chefs, home-cooks, food policymakers and consumers, through various original mini-series. The engaging content goes beyond the general recipes and talks about the human and food connection- you are bound to get hooked in no time! Top recommendations from the channel would be the “Pizza show” and “Fuck that’s delicious”.

3. Masterchef Australia

This all-time favourite is a go-to for every foodie. The show is about 24 amateur cooks rooting for one title and an opportunity to live their food dreams. It is all about delectable food, healthy competition and just so much joy. The excitement and thrill of mystery boxes challenges and elimination rounds will keep you on the edge of your seat. Also, who can ever get enough of seeing the banter between Matt, Gary and George?!

4. Gordon’s Great Escape

Considered a terror in the culinary world, the uber-talented Gordon Ramsay has created a business empire of his own. From starring as a judge in shows like Masterchef USA to drilling professional chefs in Hell’s Kitchen, Ramsay has entertained us all along. This original YouTube mini-series on his channel takes you on his culinary adventures around the world where you can learn about different cuisines, styles, local produce and simple cooking tips. 5. The Mind of a Chef

This show is a unique take on cooking and the science behind it- an absolute must watch! Executive produced and narrated by the one and only late Anthony Bourdain, this show is a great reminder of his genius and inspiring work. Professional chefs look at a number of delicious dishes from all around the world, to dissect and recreate them in their own style. Some of the previous guest chefs on the show have been David Chang, Sean Brock, April Bloomfield, Edward Lee, Magnus Nilsson and Gabrielle Hamilton.
