Top 5 places to eat in Ho Chi Minh City (baby friendly)
Here are our top 5 recommendations for restaurants in Ho Chi Minh City:
1. Ben Thanh street food market
All manner of Vietnamese street food options are available in this clean and organised street food market and if you have dinner plans elsewhere call in for a two for one cocktail and soak up the city. Try the refreshing Gin and hibiscus to soothe you in the clammy night heat.
2. Pizza 4ps
Pizza and Pasta are the order of the day (no kidding) in this super slick Japanese/Italian fusion restaurant. The owner was so unimpressed by the mozzarella on offer in the city that he bought his own buffaloes and made his own cheese! A pizza purist from the Neapolitan school may find some of the offerings a little zainy (Salmon Sushi pizza?) but you won’t find better pizza in all of Vietnam! There are seven branches across the city and it’s best to book ahead.
3. Secret Garden
“Are we lost? We are totally lost, this can’t be it, this looks like we are going into someone’s apartment…We are going into someone’s apartment. Oh, hang on wait, here it is…oooh nice.” I’m sure this has a conversation has been replicated on the approach to (name). Hidden at the top of an apartment block this trendy rooftop restaurant is worth the climb. A mix of local and fusion dishes…
A neat little stylish restaurant with a pop art style take on Vietnam’s communist politics. The menu is clean Vietnamese eating. This place is not the most adventurous food option but a great start for the uninitiated. Clearly a spot for the stylish cool kids to start their night with a cocktail and a smoke. Expect your cocktails fruity and your haircuts sharp.
There is nothing flashy about this chain but the selection of baos (steamed and stuffed dumpling) is fantastic. Kid-friendly, cheap and tasty. Try a soft shell crab or three. A great lunch spot if you need a simple bite.
